The first time you walk into a Muay Thai gym, you don't need to know anything. You don't need to be in shape. You don't need gloves. You just need to show up.
Class starts with a five-minute warm-up: skipping rope, light shadow boxing, mobility. Then the head coach walks the room through the technique of the day — usually a single strike or combination, broken into steps you can copy. You'll partner up, hold pads, throw the technique, switch.
Nobody is going to hit you. Sparring is a separate, advanced class — not your first day. Your first day is about learning how to stand, how to move, and how to throw a kick that doesn't hurt you on landing.
Wear shorts you can move in. Bring water. We'll loan you wraps and gloves. Show up ten minutes early so we can introduce you to whoever you'll be training next to. That's it.
